ʻŌhiʻa Lehua honey is a unique and distinctly Hawaiian honey made from the nectar of the ʻōhiʻa lehua blossom, a native and culturally significant tree found throughout the Hawaiian Islands. This honey captures the essence of Hawaii’s volcanic landscapes and endemic flora. Usually light amber to golden in liquid form, it often crystallizes quickly into a creamy, pale tan or off-white texture, similar to kiawe honey but usually slightly darker. It is earthy and floral, with complex undertones. Some describe it as having mineral notes, mildly sweet, and slightly smoky or woody, reflecting the volcanic soils where the ʻōhiʻa tree thrives. Not overly sweet or floral—more balanced and subtle than clover or orange blossom honey. It is mildly fragrant, sometimes with an herbal or woody scent. Excellent as a table honey or spread. Pairs well with cheese, tea, or roasted vegetables. Its earthy, volcanic flavor makes it a good match for savory dishes and island-inspired marinades.
